Before we begin

Path to Purpose helps high school juniors and seniors like you connect with internships that align with your interests and career goals. Please review the requirements below.

Applicants must:

  • Be a junior or senior in high school.
  • Be 16 years old by February 1st, 2027.
  • Commit to completing at least 50 internship hours between February and May 2027 (approximately 4–8 hours per week).

Applicants should be ready to submit:

  • A résumé & cover letter.
  • Two references (who are not your parent/guardian).

All Path to Purpose interns must enroll in a one-unit Internship course at the SRJC (don't worry, your school counselor and/or the Path to Purpose team can help with this!). This is an online course with no scheduled meeting times — you work with an instructor and submit assignments by the deadlines.

  • Process: The application is the first step in securing an internship, and all applicants will be reviewed for potential matches.
  • Opportunity Matching: Eligibility and placement depend on the availability of internship opportunities, your qualifications, and the specific requirements of the program.
  • Compensation: An internship may be paid or unpaid depending on the scope of work and context of the opportunity. Our goal is to ensure the experience adds value and provides room for professional growth.
  • Communication: You're committing to an active role in the selection process. You'll be notified by email if you're selected for an interview or offered an internship — please respond promptly.
  • Professionalism: This internship will require a commitment of time and effort, and you're expected to engage professionally and responsibly.
